Hi I'm Stace on Dave

It is so cool to be a part of Dave this season. During the height of the pandemic, Dave is one of the shows (like countless others) that had to shut down. The cast and crew of this show has gone through so much to make this season happen. Thousands of Covid Tests. Shut downs. Literal battle scars. With how surreal this season has been moving along, you would never know it, but this group of people has gone through so much. The entire season took two or three times longer than normal because of the pandemic, but despite all odds, this cast and crew made it! They deserve all the HYPE!

I joined the Dave party later shooting end of Feb & early March of 2021. I am playing GaTa’s sister Stace this season. Fun real life fact: GaTa does have a sister name Stacey (“Stace” for short) and she is actually older than him. Mama C (Carlease Burke) knows Stace through a mutual friend. For tv, they decided to make Stace younger and not older and somehow I got to be a part of the Ganter family.

This episode opens in an interesting way because this entire season GaTa has kind of just been around helping Dave’s dreams come true. You can see in GaTa’s eyes that he still wants more. He is trying to figure out what’s next and his family feels caught in the middle of it all. We all have moments when the people that we love confuse us. Stace is ready to get that house in her name, but she also cares about her brother and wants to see his dreams come true.

Mr. Santos ( Angel Oqendo) was slick trying to spit game to Moms before GaTa walks in, but he has that Puerto Rican swag, so I guess he can’t help it. :P It was fun working with everyone at the Ganter House. We always made sure to mask up at all times!!

I got to work with directors, Kitao Sakurai and Alma Har’el this season. They both are so brilliant and have a sense of control in their voice as artists to collaborate with others yet simultaneously make their own statement. Kitao’s “Enlightened Dave” episode is one that I have to rewatch again. The episode says so many things visually, my brain couldn’t keep up. :P

Working with Alma was one of those full circle moments. I remembering watching Honey boy a year or so ago. About 10 min into the movie, I asked my boyfriend, who directed this? Whoever directed this is dope lol. She is really dope. LOL. My assumptions are usually always correct and they did not fail me once again. Alma is beyond dope and I can’t wait to see what she does next. She is such an insightful director that is both technically and creatively so brilliant. Plus ( I know I shouldn’t be vain but)…she has one of the most gorgeous heads of hair in the world.

As a viewer, I know how it feels to watch some shows and wonder,” Is everyone on set really this cool and funny?” I can honestly say that the cast and crew of Dave is that and then some. The crew is beyond entertaining to be around and the cast is full of insightful artists that find a balance between their work and play with ease.

Since this season (especially the last few episode) is full of surrealist themes. I think Salvador Dali could wrap up this season best, “I don’t do drugs, I am drugs.”

Is 90's Fashion Back??

Ya’ll It’s not a drill??? I am seeing track suits, baggy jeans, animal print, slip dresses, plaid, butterfly clips and I am ALLLLLL for it! What is so extremely funny to me is every person (that knows me very well )knows that I have a lot of clothes. And I mean A LOT of clothes. Through my nomadic lifestyle as an artist, I have acquired closets at many different households in my family unit. Legitimately if I am ever going to my aunts and uncles houses (that live on opposite coasts), I already know that I don’t have to pack a bag because I have clothes there.

Chipped nails from another event because why not? lol One thing I love about 90s fashion is that it has a sophisticated side but also this grungy side too. The girl next door look is classic but I wanted to add some imperfection to it! Why not?

Random fact: I have been told that I am a black Cameron Diaz more than a few times lol and I’m all for it! ;) Stay tuned for my next look.

One of my aunts recently told me, politely yet directly, that my closet is going to be donated soon. BUT I have to stop this because I guarantee you right now, my closet is fulllll of 90s fashion! Being a slight clothing hoarder is going to be beneficial to me in the long run, and I can’t wait to share with you all a slice of my life through clothing!!

The mono chrome stuff of the past 5 years was not my jam. I can’t wait to share some bold clothing with my secret creative director ;) Going to be serving some looks soon.

What's up with Jazzy Jam?

Well it’s been a while. Actually longer than a while. It is so crazy to honestly believe that I love to write because I literally stopped. With everything that is still happening with covid in general, like many people, I started to reflect on a lot of things that I really enjoy doing but for some reason developed some irrational fear about. Writing is one of them. It is so insane because I used to write ALLL of the time. Literally ALL of the time. I might share some young jazzy jam writings. I love to reread old things I have written. For one, it’s because I am honestly wondering what I was thinking, but than there are a few times when I humbly am impressed with myself and the thoughts that flowed out of my brain. I think the cool thing about writing is when you get into a groove and are free, sometimes you look back and question, Did I actually write that? Well young jazzy jam was a diary writer, emo poetry songstress and everything in between. Adult jazzy jam is still figuring it all out, but why not just start somewhere? It’s not like I bear my soul in front of a camera every day….. what’s the worst that could happen? :P

What’s so crazy is if you asked mini Jazzy Jam about 15 years ago what she was going to be when she “grew up” she would have said a writer. It was my absolute dream to be a published writer. There is so much that I have to say in this weird brain of mine and for whatever reason. I think I scare myself a little about what that means or what I have to say. But I think that is starting to be over now so thank God for that.:)

I see so much beauty around me and I want this blog to be a space for me to share that beauty. I’m still ultra passionate about God, film, children’s programming, storytelling etc. but sometimes I really don’t know how to piece all of my thoughts together. So I’m going to use this space for just that. To piece things together.

Read. Skim. Look at pretty pictures. Escape in thought. xoxo

So some of my favorite foods include pizza and sushi. Making dessert pizza is a pretty common practice so I thought why not make dessert sushi!! My Jazzy Jammer Alice aka my little sister (If you can see the resemblance) had so much fun trying to make sushi dessert. Check out our recipe and keep on jamming <3

Baking With Jazzy Jam Olympic Treats

I am so excited to introduce to all of you my new fun online show co produced and directed by my dear friend Nicole Gomez of Divine Miracle Studios. Baking has always bee something that I enjoyed doing socially so of course for every Baking With Jazzy Jam episode, I am going to have a friend/ Jazzy Jamer with me every single time. Oden was so fun and chill. Our opposite personalities made this episode hilarious! We showed our olympic spirit by making olympic ring donuts. Such an easy fun recipe!
